Would You Rather Mid-Ohio or Spa?

DALLAS (May 2, 2018) – Park Place Motorsports returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the first time in six years with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama series.

Coming off its first win in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA at Barber Motorsports Park driver David Kolkmann will be hoping to add to both his trophy collection and gain championship points. The 13 turn, 2.258-mile track treated Park Place Motorsports well last time the three-stud marque graced its paddock. Team Principal Patrick Lindsey finished fourth with Porsche Factory Driver Patrick Long in 2013 competing in the Rolex GrandAm series.

Kolkmann has been hard at work on the simulator learning yet another new track, adding to his experience in North America. His efforts are matched by many others due to late winter storms canceling many attempted test sessions by IMSA teams. Weather stands a chance to factor into Kolkmann’s weekend with rain in the forecast Friday, May 4.

Kolkmann plans to capitalize on experience and momentum as he takes on Mid-Ohio 10 days after his Race Two win at Barber.

“I want to continue where I left off,” Kolkmann said. “I got my first win at Barber and I want to take that feeling with me and push for another great weekend in Mid-Ohio. I had a great feeling in the car and I know in which direction we have to develop the car to be fast.

“I prepared myself in the simulator again. I already like the track based off what I practiced in the sim; I can’t wait to try it with the real car. I’ll still have more to learn so hopefully the test day is dry as it looks like rain for our practice sessions then dry again for our races.”

Kolkmann and Park Place Motorsports begin the weekend with a full day of practice Friday, May 4. Qualifying for both races takes place 8 a.m. ET Saturday, May 5, with Race One capping the day off at 5 p.m. Race Two brings the Mid-Ohio weekend to a close at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, May 6. The 45-minute sprint races will be streamed live on IMSA.tv.

While Kolkmann sets out to conquer Mid-Ohio Lindsey and Porsche Factory Driver Jörg Bergmeister, co-driver of the No. 73 Park Place Porsche 911 GT3 R, are set to start the Super Season of FIA World Endurance Championship competition. Lindsey and Bergmeister along with Egidio Perfetti debut the Project 1 effort, the No. 56 Porsche RSR, in the team’s first year of FIA WEC. Race One, the TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps takes place May 5 in none other than Stavelot, Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. American fans can watch the race on Velocity.

“I would love to be at Mid-Ohio this weekend to watch David, but I’m equally excited for the start of the WEC season,” Lindsey said. “I sat with David while on the simulator and gave him a little more insight into the track. He had it down in like two laps. I think he’s ready for this weekend. We have a full crew each GT3 Cup weekend, so I know he’s in good hands no matter what happens. I’
